The Reliquary of St Roch

We are pleased to host Oregon Artist Lonnie Jenck as she joins us for a special workshop, The Reliquary of St Roch. Lonnie will teach you the basics of creating an enclosed bezel focal piece, using her torch method. After constructing your bezel you will embellish the inside with ephemera of your hearts desire. Using glass, and the framework supplied by Lonnie there are several options in finishing this unique reliquary. With the focus of this workshop being the shrine, as opposed to the necklace, this is where you'll spend most of your class time. Lonnie will generously supplies enough materials for each student to create two unique enclosed bezel reliquaries.

Supply List:
• cooking torch (if you have one) • chain• jewelry pliers • towel
• embellishments to fill your bezel (nothing plastic as it may melt)

Enchantress of The Sea

We are happy to have Folk Artist Iva Wilcox back at Gilding the Lily teaching her Enchantress of The Sea reliquary. Iva will lead you through the steps to create your own under water world in a small glass and wood display case. In this class, you'll construct a three-dimensional under-the-sea scape. You can use the images Iva provides or bring one of your own and really personalize it. Iva will share her techniques for adding rich textures and layers of paint to build your mermaid's palace. You will also learn how to lavishly furnish it with faux pearls, seashells, glitter and gold, coral, sea fans and a sandy floor. Can you hear the siren song beckoning?

Supply List:
glass and wood display case • both round and flat paint brushes
• scissors • heat gun or blow dryer • brass sea-themed charms
• decorative metal cup or wine glass to use as a pedestal base
• Golden/Fluid Acrylic Paints: Cobalt Blue, Quinacridone Nikel Azo Gold
• Delta Acrylic Paints: Antique White, Thalo Blue, Metallic Gold

At the request of her faithful followers Artist Cindy Gonzales brings us her latest altered crown, Queen of Heaven. Featuring a religious alter of sorts, faded tinsel trim and beautifully decoupaged images, Cindy will walk you through her process from start to finish. With the addition of building a niche into the body of the crown, Cindy has set this crown apart from the ordinary. Cindy's unique use of materials, attention to detail, and abundant kits make her classes a real value.
