We are happy to invite Cindy Gonzales back to Gilding the Lily to share her Hidden Treasures Jeweled Boxes with us. With Cinyd's trademark attention to detail, these are truly works of art! Each student will create two boxes, as Cindy brings a generous variety of supplies for everyone to share... including but not limited to decorative papers, images, beads, and various trims for us to chose from as we create our boxes. No two boxes will be the same either in size, or composition. This is a detail oriented class, and small hand work will be our focus. You bring the tins, and Cindy will generously supply the rest!

Tis The Season, a Tabletop Centerpiece

Come join Artist Cindy Gonzales as she teaches this delightful holiday centerpiece here at Gilding the Lily. This full day class will start with creating a unique cake plate made almost entirely of paper, featuring vintage images of Santa and trimmed with tarnished, silver garland.

Cindy will also share how she creates her buildings, painted and covered in a dusting of sugared snow, and you'll make a darling snow couple modeled after a vintage pair she found from the 1950's. Your centerpiece cake plate will be topped with a complete holiday scene created piece by piece in class. While this is a full day workshop, it features easy to do techniques perfect for all skill levels.

Jenny Hernandez has found popularity with her darling Polka Dot Pixies, and we are excited to have her teaching her Little Guys here at Gilding the Lily! Standing approximately 6 inches high, this fun little Santa is sure to get you in the holiday spirit!

Jenny has created this sculpted Santa who stands atop a paper mache box checking his list. She will share with you the basics of sculpting and working with Paper Clay. This class is perfect for beginner to intermediate level students ages 15 and up. Seating will be limited to 8 students so that adequate instruction and attention is given to each student.

Supplies:
• 6oz package of Creative Paper Clay
• hair drier or heat gun • your favorite paint brushes (flats and detail)
Additionally: Please bring an apron or wear appropriate clothing. Sometimes sculpting can get messy, so prepare to get your hands dirty and have tons of fun!

Harvest Pumpkin Pincushon

Becky Wimbs brings us another of her stunning primitive pincushions in her Harvest Pumpkin. Becky's attention to detail is exquisite and she will share with you not only her methods for creating the pumpkin base, but also her design tricks for embellishing it.

Becky will supply the base materials and with your own embellishments, you'll each create your own stunning one of a kind pumpkin, perfect as a table centerpiece as well as an outstanding pincushion! Approx 8 inches wide and 5 inches high

We are happy to introduce a long time friend of Gilding the Lily, Becky Wimbs. Extremely talented Becky has been sewing and creating for years, much of that time in her own quilt and fabric shop Becky's Whimsey. We couldn't be happier to have her share Miss Bella the Sewing Mouse with all of you.


Becky will supply a basic kit and with what you gather at Gilding the Lily or bring from home, she will teach you how to create Miss Bella in a matter of just a couple of hours. Basic sewing skills are a must in this fast moving three hour workshop. Due to overwhelming interest, we have booked two seatings with Becky, please let us know which you'd like when reserving your seat.

The Art of Metal Embossing ~ Demo & Tools

At this years CHA we had the pleasure of meeting the talented mother and daughter duo of Magdelena Muldoon and Magdalena Barrena. These two talented women have brought the art of authentic Metal Embossing into the Craft and Hobby world, and now we are thrilled to share this art with you.

In this demo based workshop, we will explain the tools and supplies needed for Traditional Metal Embossing, and how to use them. Most of the education is understanding what type of mark or shape each tool marks on the metal. Through basic techniques you will learn, step by step, the simple methods used to create a variety of metal designs.

Your kit provided by Gilding the Lily will include a basic Five Piece Metal Embossing Tool Kit, a Suede Piece, Pewter Sheet metal, and has a retail valued at $30.00!
We will also have a selection of books, texturing tools, decorative wheels, and pewter sheet metal available for purchase. Space is extremely limited so please reserve your space in class early.

Bling Baby Jewelry Holder

Join artist Lisa Loria as she shares her darling, vintage Bling Baby Jewelry holders with us. Lisa has had wonderful success selling her babies and now shows you how to create your own one of a kind piece.

Using a vintage lamp, or perhaps a bird cage picked up at the craft store, Lisa will teach her tips and tricks for turning these common objects into the base for your baby. Add your own vintage doll and these really come to life! The focal point of each baby will be the vintage bling Lisa shares with you as you create a flashy little bodice to dress your doll.

Your kit provided by the artist will include the arm post, batting and vintage fabric to choose from, a beaded halo, pearls and baubles, and a chandelier crystal. Lisa will also bring a selection of dolls, lamps bases and cages, so that you may choose your own. These will be available for $15.00 each if you're unable to find one on your own. Students are encouraged to bring any special trinkets the might like to make their creation unique.

Fairy's Haven Necklace

Join new Resident Artist Bridgette Antonelli to create this wearable Fairy's Haven Necklace. This diminutive project includes many new techniques and unusual materials, for an afternoon of learning that is sure to please all students.

Inside a little jewelry gourd captured by gossamer linen netting, a tiny brass-winged frozen Charlotte (only 1 1/2" tall!) becomes the focal point of this edgy little mixed media collage, marrying the organic with the vintage look we all love. In this class Bridgette will teach the ancient art of knotless netting, rosary chain construction, basic cold connection techniques, and even metal stamping.

Your kit provided by the artist will include a miniature gourd, waxed linen thread, brass components, findings, crystals and more to complete the necklace as pictured. Bridgette will also bring a selection of the tiniest of Charlottes, so that you may choose your own. These will be available for $5.00 each. Students are encouraged to bring any special trinkets the might like to make their creation unique.

Full of Grace ~ A Soldered Reliquary

Local Artist Robin Dudley-Howes brings another fun project to Gilding the Lily with her Full of Grace Soldered Reliquary. What is a reliquary? Direct quote from the dictionary~ “A receptacle, such as a coffer or shrine, for keeping or displaying sacred relics.” As the name suggests, Robin will guide you as you create your own reliquary using all new soldering techniques. This is a fantastic project for those who have some soldering experience and want to challenge themselves, as well as for the novice. Robin will not only go over the dynamics of making a miniature “reliquary”, she will also demonstrate how to add a soldered frame over glass, wire basket handle with velvet wrap, as well as collage techniques. Each of you will be sure and leave with a finished project! This is an exclusive project to the Gilding the Lily and will not be taught anywhere else.

. Robin does share her soldering equipment for those of you who don't yet have it. However, bringing your own soldering tools will ensure you will finish your work in class.

Endless Strand of Pearls

Resident artist Dede Warren is back at Gilding the Lily teaching a beautiful, double-wrap necklace Endless Strand of Pearls. Inspired by artist Tami Hichman, Dede created this necklace from vintage strands of pearls, old rhinestone rhondelles, disco balls, coin pearls, mercury glass beads, and more. Adding in special bits and pieces found in vintage broken jewelry complete this one-of-a-kind necklace. In this workshop you will learn jewelry basics such as wire wrapping, cold connections, use of Beadalon wire and crimp beads, as well as how to make your own headpins using a torch and sterling wire. You bring in a few focal charms, and Dede will supply the rest!

Soldered bottles are all the rage these days. With summer fast approaching we are thrilled to have resident artist Cindy Gonzales back with us sharing her Memories of the Seashore soldered bottles with us.
We hope you'll come spend the day with us as well embellish not one, but two big bottles with beautiful shells from the Florida seashore! We'll also learn to transfer images onto glass, and you're welcome to bring your own black and white printer copy of a photo if you'd like to have a personalized image. For those of you who've taken Cindy's classes before you know how generous she is with her supplies, and how easy going and enjoyable her classes are. You bring your bottles, and Cindy will provide the rest!

We are pleased to have Oregon Artist Lonnie Jenck back at Gilding the Lily teaching this wonderful new class, Follow Your Dreams! This workshop involves both traditional soldering and torch soldering, as you create a glass, enclosed shield made to hold small dimensional focal pieces. While Lonnie will provide all the supplies for your case, she invites you to bring bits and pieces to fill the case, as well as chain to finish your necklace. Lonnie will work with the pieces you bring, helping each student create a necklace that is truly a one-of-a-kind work of art. This is quite a substantial piece and it's getting rave reviews in the shoppe!
