the very talented Amy Hanna, author of "Rejuvenated Jewels."
Amy will be here to meet you and start signing your books at 7:00 p.m.

Don't miss this opportunity to meet one of the most genuinely talented and unaffected people I know, and see her work in person...and perhaps take home a little bit of it with you.
Lily will host an evening soiree where you may shop the trunk show, have your book signed by Amy, and meet this extraordinary woman. We will also have a pre-event with wonderful items as shown below that you can purchase to inspire and create your own "Rejuvenated Jewels." We have been busy hunting and collecting for this event, and there will be plenty of extraordinary finds for you to choose from. Charlotte Necklace - Frozen in Time

Mixed Media Jewelry Workshop
Designer and Instructor~Robin Dudley-Howes
Saturday, July 18, 2009 11:00a-4:30p
Workshop fee: $60 prepaid
Kit fee: $35 payable to teacher at class (includes sterling silver wire, Frozen Charlotte and everything else needed to make the necklace except tools)
Level: Intermediate and up

Over one hundred years ago in a doll factory located in Thuringia, Germany, "Frozen Charlotte" dolls were manufactured. These hard to find, treasured bisque dolls, broken and not, become trophies when found and are coveted by mixed media and jewelry artists making them HIGHLY collectible. It is the resurrection and collection of these enigmatic figures that guided me to make this necklace exclusively for Gilding the Lily.

You will learn some great tips and techniques in soldering, wire wrap and miniature embellishment…making a tiny tiara for Charlotte, preserving her in a miniature vial and attaching it to a beautiful sterling silver and vintage finding necklace that you will learn how to make. How fun is that! The kit will have ALL the sterling silver wire, chain and findings needed to make the necklace PLUS your very own Frozen Charlotte and the story behind her, a vial, pearls, glass glitter, vintage and new findings.

All you need to bring is: Jewelry pliers: flat nose, chain nose, small and large round nose. Wire cutters. Please do not bring pliers with teeth. Bring your soldering iron and equipment if you have it.

Please note that Robin will patina all wire before class. Directions will be given on how to do this at home along with general class notes. It is helpful to have some knowledge in wire wrapping and soldering for this class. You may contact Robin if you have questions. [ 310-787-8704, or

Spring Chandelier

Mixed Media Chandelier Class
Saturday, March 21, 2009 11:00a~2:00p
Kristen Robinson, Designer and Instructor
Workshop Fee: $50

Sweet spring ephemera finds itself nestled alongside the sparkle and shimmer of rosary beads and rhinestone brads. Satin ribbon flows onto a ring of spring beauty in this non-illuminated chandelier that is reminiscent of the May poles of yesteryear. Reproductions of vintage wallpaper and ledger pages from the early 1900s are transformed into layered pennants that annouce the beauty of pastel colors and paper flowers. The perfect addition to your spring days and decor.
All materials are provided in class with extra goodies for you to enjoy! Please bring the following tools with you:

• Paper adhesive (I prefer Zip Dry glue which is available at Michael's and Joann's)
• Scissors, both small and lage, as you will be cutting out images with fine details
• Needle nose pliers
• Decorative scissors, such as pinking shears (optional)

All class fees are prepaid. Kit fees are paid directly to the artist. Contact class manager Dede Warren at 714-757-0558 to reserve your place in this class. Burnished Nest Necklace

Mixed Media Wire Wrapped Necklace
Saturday, April 11, 2009 11:00a~3:30p 1 seat left!
Saturday, May 2, 2009 11:00a~3:30p New Date!
Sidney Hanner, Designer and Instructor
Workshop Fee: $65.00
Earring Kit Available: $15.00

This is the latest creation from designer and instructor Sidney Hanner, and this piece is stunning in person. Sid demonstrates her usual creativity in arriving at the point of completion, creating tiny leaves from solder, mixing medias and materials freely, and incorporating found objects into the design, as will students in this class.

The nest is a free form wirewrap in burnished copper wire, embellished with the tinted metal leaves and cradling three lustrous pearls....

Soldered wire links join the necklace components, as well as wirewrapped components that lend surprising texture and interest...

A closeup of one of the found objects soldered into a link, and some of the tiny metal leaves....

Students will also have the opportunity to take home a kit for these earrings after attending class. You'll leave with your necklace and all the skills to make these incredible ear candy.
